Please introduce yourself and what you do.

I’m a slow fashion stylist, designer, blogger, and competitive boxer, based in SF but soon relocating to LA. As you can probably tell, I don’t believe in limiting yourself to one set of identities so my “who I am” is usually all over the place.

What is your favorite Consttant piece and how would you style yourself in it?

Honestly, I’m pretty torn between the Golden Girl Hand-printed Tee and the Nori Denim Kimono. I love the combination of bold graphics on a classic tee, which has the potential to be styled in so many ways and make a statement. Right off the bat, I’d probably throw my cream knitted corset over it and finish with leather pants and chunky boots. The denim kimono is the ultimate streetwear piece in my mind, which I would layer on over anything from a slinky slip dress and nude fishnets to a printed blouse and some wide leg trousers.

Share a quote that inspires your originality, to be you and not care what anyone thinks.

I would take a life lesson from Iris Apfel anyday. My favorite quote of hers: “Fashion you can buy, but style you possess. The key to style is learning who you are, which takes years. There’s no how-to road map to style. It’s about self expression and, above all, attitude.”
I love the thought that style is tied to the core of who you are. As you explore what speaks to you about the clothes you chose to wear, you also continue to get to know yourself along the way in a personal, intimate way. And of course, attitude and confidence is always in style.

What motivates you on the daily?

I think waking up and knowing there is almost an infinite number of ways you could improve as a person is an exciting thing. There are days I don’t feel motivated, but the knowledge that there is always a potential to learn in a day is a constant for me, which gets me up in the morning everyday.

Share about a negative experience that has turned into a positive experience.

I think losing in a competitive sport or experiencing rejection is always wrapped up in a swirl of negatives and positives. The outcomes I don’t desire help me understand my weaknesses and tendencies, and to figure out what will make me better. From getting back up again and again, I realize how stubborn and strong I really am.

What inspires you to be you?

I think everyone has their own unique brand, no matter what they do with it; and that in it of itself is a pretty incredible thing. There is a lot of beauty in individuality, so I try to understand myself as best as I can, to be able to express mine. That, and a bone-crippling fear of being ordinary.

Tell us about your favorite movie and how it inspires you.

Picking favorites has always been hard for me. One of my favorite movies is called Beginners, directed by Mike Mills. In highly visual and intimate ways, the movie reminds me to live honestly and to appreciate the connections and relationships we create with the people in our lives. Then, of course, there is always
Kill Bill vol. 1 +2 by Quentin Tarantino, which motivates me to own my fierceness as a woman. The fashion in Kill Bill is pretty incredible as well.

What are your dreams and how do you want to achieve it?

My dream and I guess, dream job, is to do my part in helping the planet through what I love. Ultimately, I hope to create my own ethically and environmentally sustainable line that is affordable, relatable, and will do some good in the world.
