The Margaret Keyhole Top is Consttant's first ever style to be produced in San Francisco, California. Just several minutes away from our new studio we are moving in to. Keep scrolling down for behind the scenes of conceptualizing the top and a new editorial to see too!
Initial steps of developing a style consist of research and gathering inspirational photos to create a mood board to always reference for vibe and style to stick to throughout the process.
This was my initial sketch of the Margaret top. It was a quick drawing in my iPhone notes. I was watching my favorite show Seinfeld and was inspired by Elaine Benes.
These swatches and buttons pictured below, were my final choices for the fabric to construct the Margaret chambray top from. The chambray, which will come available in 2 colorways, is sourced locally here in San Francisco from a supplier based in Los Angeles. The buttons are made from eco-velvet and from NYC, the big apple!
I went to visit my manufacturer's throughout the process of creating the Margaret top to see every major step of the way. This included, but not limited to: pattern making, sewing, and sample making.
